Milk or Meat? Let's move from Milk to Maturity -
After the prayer of salvation, a self-willed, cultural Christianity loudly boasts and proclaims, “No matter what we do, we are pleasing to God.” However, Scripture teaches the complete opposite.
So what does it mean to be mature in our faith? Why do we even need to grow once we are born again? Is spiritual maturity our responsibility?
In Lesson 1 of this 3-part series, “Milk or Meat?”, Paztuh Mike Wuebbles emphasizes the importance of believers continually growing in their walk with God. Ultimately, this growth process is a choice. In 1 Corinthians 3:1-3, the Apostle Paul rebukes the church in Corinth for still acting like babies in Christ rather than as mature saints. He could only share the “milk” of the Word, but not the “meat” of it.
Choosing to follow the desires of our sinful nature instead of the Holy Spirit produces devastating consequences in this life and the one to come. Immaturity only breeds division, offense, strife, jealousy, and much more. All of this stems from pride.
To become mature in Christ, a believer must recognize their responsibility and embrace the desire to please God more than themselves or others.
